We had a nice breakfast on the veranda at Quinta da Terrincha before leaving to ride the famous N222 road. 171km of nonstop turns following the Douro river towards Porto.
We very quickly found ourselves in the middle of spectacular scenery ... beautiful and steep mountains, nonstop curves up and down hills ... riding through small and quaint villages ... with vineyards and olive trees everywhere. Boats and sailboats in the river, bridges here and there, and people enjoying a day out on a great road with great scenery.
The blending of experiences, thoughts, feelings, joy, and challenges continues to blend into single moments of complete presence.
We made it to Sao Leonardo de Galafura for lunch. A restaurant perched way high above the Douro river overlooking the valleys below. A great spot with great views from the dining room.
After lunch, it was another long dose of spirited and challenging riding up and down twisty roads in what we all agreed was motorcycle riding paradise. Physically demanding.
We finally arrived in Porto in the afternoon. Porto is the second largest city in Portugal, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1996, and home to Porto wine. Our hotel is in a beautifully restored building in the historic center and walking distance from the waterfront.
We spent a few hours exploring the city, its pedestrian only streets, historical buildings, churches, and the waterfront with all its restaurants, people, street performers and people from all over the world.
